I live and go to school at Melpattambakkam Girls' Boarding Home in Tamil Nadu, India. Owned and operated by the Arcot Lutheran Church — an Indian, Dalit-led church body in the state of Tamil Nadu — Melpattambakkam serves about 300 girls between first and 12th Standard.
My favorite activity is playing Kabaddi. From Wikipedia: Kabaddi is a contact team sport played between two teams of seven players each. The objective of the game is for a single player on offense, referred to as a "raider", to run into the opposing team's half of a court, tag out as many of their defenders as possible, and return to their own half of the court, all without being tackled by the defenders, and in a single breath.
I come from a marginalized class in the Indian Caste system. "Other Backward Class" is a collective term used by the Government of India to classify castes which are educationally or socially disadvantaged. It is one of several official classifications of the population of India, along with Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SCs and STs). [via Wikipedia]
